What People Say About Us

reconfigured is quickly becoming as precious to me as my pen and paper. A journal purpose built for analysts that aims to record our notes and organize our data to make it actionable - dare I say even fun - reconfigured has changed the way I work. I traded my pen for a hotkey and honestly, breaking the habit of picking up my pen has been the hardest part. Like, being so for real with you all, I no longer have to discipline my curiosity. I can follow the query to it's end, start branching off when the query opens more questions, and even record any random thought I have to revisit later.
Ankit Kumar
Data Analyst
As an analyst, it's easy to get caught up in the chaos when building SQL queries and working with data. Often, there's no central repository to track metrics and definitions, which keeps changing frequently. Recently, I tried reconfigured ♥️, a tool built by Niko Korvenlaita and Richard Makara, which has transformed my analytical workflow into a well-organized investigation. and supporting my process without adding cognitive load, thus, helping me focus on uncovering insights. It lets you add text, code snippets, screenshots, or voice notes which is a true game-changer. Plus, it helps turn my thoughts and ideas into actionable to-dos and notifies me if I stray off course. The best part? The embedded AI lets me revisit my past thoughts, ensuring that nothing valuable slips through the cracks. Reconfigured has indeed made my analysis easier and more structured by providing a dedicated space for documentation without relying on external tools.

Journaling and analytics engineering are a great pair. Using reconfigured for over eight weeks has solved one issue at least a little bit. One struggle when I work on data models or analytics tasks is that I make significant design decisions, but I might forget about them two days later. In the current project, I need to calculate a synthetic identifier for subscriptions, and it took me two weeks to come up with a combination that works (with a lot of back and forth). But when testing the whole thing, I always had to recall the exact definition to test the right things. Luckily, now I am writing a quest journal in reconfigured, so I have a place where I can find the definition and all the thoughts around it. They have now introduced a few AI functions (like recommending the next steps), so I would love to see when the AI functions arrive that distill essential design decisions and add them to a prominent place to easily look up again.

I just tried the product which I can now say is "smooth as the inside of a pāua shell" - get in touch with reconfigured if you want to change how you track analyst workflows and aggregate knowledge about how data is used to generate insight across your organisation Richard Niko may even show you some ridiculously awesome promotional videos

The first time I encountered Reconfigured was during a no-slide presentation by Richard. As a Millennial who grew up playing Morrowind and Oblivion, I immediately recognized the value of journaling the hero's journey, and I realized the immense potential a product like this could have for users like me—those trying to figure out how DevOps tools can fit into analytics workflows. The answer came to me almost like a vision: "It will be through journaling." Not all data stories start with a great chart worth a thousand words, and that's when I asked if I could try it out. That's when the love story began. How you get to your insigth is a process of a lot of iteration, so your data story has a lot of loops, and documenting them is always a burden of a chore. Or at least, it used to be. What I loved most about the app is how it helps me stay focused on the quest, adding context, documenting, and working in a flow state so effortlessly. In the past, I had to write down what I was doing and summarize it elsewhere, but now it's as easy as pressing Windows + Alt + Space, adding your context, and hitting Ctrl + Enter—your quest log gets updated instantly. Isn't that amazing? You barely have to take your mind off the main quest, maintaining a deep focus approach throughout.

I've been using Reconfigured on several of my data projects, and it has become my go-to platform for capturing and organizing thoughts I have when doing exploratory analysis or data modeling work. It's like having a dedicated 'brain dump' space where I can quickly jot down notes and insights without breaking my workflow. This immediate accessibility lets me retain critical context and work more efficiently—especially when jumping between projects. I'm convinced that the aggregation of comprehensive context / knowledge is critical for leveraging the power of AI in an organization. Organizations with extensive knowledge repositories will be more successful. With Reconfigured you lay the groundwork for that.

Wonderful product, a true timesaver for data analytics teams. You can use reconfigured to outsource the specs to the stakeholder, and use the insight generated to blaze ahead and deliver exactly what they needed. Can also be used to take notes about a project and manage knowledge before it slips away.

Amazing product, still early stages but, from my little use of it I'm impressed. I used it for my personal projects, but plan to incorporate it to my work tasks, where currently struggling to follow each requests properly

I'm so grateful to Richard and Niko for creating a product that finally works like an analyst works- in twists and turns and random journeys. Reconfigured answers the prayers of anyone who works in the weird grey area of: analytics, product management, and anything else dev-adjacent. I love the ease of use to track my "to dos", the messy bits in the middle, the findings and the side quests along the way. I'll say this as well- this product wouldn't be anything without its founders. Richard and Niko are incredibly passionate, humble and eager to help anyone get acquainted with their product. They are customer-focused and super attentive to identifying and resolving pain points with their users. I love what they've created so far and I'm really excited to see what comes next!
Vikash Koushik
Marketer
As a marketer, I get a ton of ad-hoc questions, requests, and to top it all, I have my own wild ideas running in my head. After a point, it gets unwieldy and giant mess. reconfigured is how I stay sane. It's become my "brain dump" companion for capturing my brain farts as I turn the giant mammoth of an idea in my head into bite-sized notes as I unpack it one layer at a time. And I love the idea of being able to chat (AI) with my notes & journal. The support is unparalleled. They've been incredible in solving anything and everything that I've thrown their way (sorry Niko Korvenlaita). And the parallels drawn from the gaming world is just 🤌 It's the one tool that I've been using every day while I build my own AI agent (more on this some other day). No wonder they had an incredible launch on Product Hunt last week!

One of my favorite things I uncovered was @reconfigured.io This data analyst journal app is one of its kind, it's more a data analyst project management tool that gives you room to add tasks(quest) you are working on and track your progress, it also has an in-built AI chat box that you can query as you work on your task. One exciting unique feature it has it's that you can also share this your task with other members of your team, it is literally a data PM tool. Also love how they use the word quest instead of task to give it that gamification feel. Thank you Richard Makara and Niko Korvenlaita for this product.

🤎 Recommendation for all analysts, controllers and all those who work with data! ❤️ 🤔Detective, 🤔Marketing, 🤔 Role-Playing Games & Quests What do they have in common? Nothing at first... At First All 3 involve gathering clues, making connections, and solving complex problems. Marketing analytics, especially strategy development, is similar to a detective process: We track data points that provide us with the best insights. reconfigured, developed by Niko Korvenlaita and Richard Makara, supports this process subjectively speaking: 🥰perfectly. It makes the analyses so much more structured and understandable by grouping questions under quests and being able to see it visually afterwards. The tool provides a clear view of every transformation and data step, so you understand the entire data flow—from the source to the finished insight. Imagine setting up hypotheses and being able to instantly check whether the data supports or disproves them, all with a tool that gives you the flexibility and control you need. By the way: Not sponsored, just fan! 😎

I just learned about reconfigured recently and was already intrigued by the idea. I think Richard and Niko are not just building yet another task management/note taking app, they've opened a conversation about something that probably everyone feels in the data world to some extent, that traditional project management tools and practices do not always apply to data workflows. Especially when you're doing some discovery/experimentation type of work where each finding opens up 3 new questions about the dataset. So if you're a data professional who feels the same way, give it a go! I can't wait to create my first quest!

An awesome productivity improvement for any data engineer, data analyst or analytics engineer. This is exactly what we've been lacking, because logging your notes into database worksheets, code editor or a random notes app just doesn't cut it.

I used to struggle with fragmented and inefficient data analysis workflows. Since switching to Reconfigured, everything is streamlined and organized in one place with its powerful journaling features. I can effortlessly capture insights with a hotkey and stay focused without juggling multiple apps. Reconfigured has significantly boosted my productivity — I highly recommend it!

I have about 4 or 5 note books at any given time, plus Notion and Obsidian. reconfigued has changed the way I take notes and actually makes it enjoyable. Now no longer will the random thoughts and ideas I have get lost into the ethos. Saves so much time.

This is an amazing product and their rate of development is spectacular! I've worked with analytics for 15+ years and I've never gotten off the ground with other ticket systems, because they never seem to actually help me get more organised. With reconfigured, it becomes so easy to keep track of how my knowledge is progressing, which is a truly great thing when working with analytics!

Freelance Business Designer
I've struggled for a long time to systematically manage my data analysis and engineering tasks using traditional to-do apps. My typical workflow involved juggling several tabs in DBVisualizer or VSCode for work-in-progress SQL queries, alongside a few Google Docs to track metadata like metrics, business rules, and database schemas. Meanwhile, I maintained task statuses in Todoist or Trello. The problem was that the connection between my tasks, queries, and metadata was always broken, leading to inefficiency and constant context switching. After using the new reconfigured for a few weeks, I can confidently say it has completely transformed how I work. The journaling approach is a game-changer - storing all the context related to a task in one place makes it so much easier to stay on top of things. The biggest benefit for me is that I no longer have to switch between different apps. With a simple hotkey, I can capture new insights directly within the task I'm working on, and everything is automatically organized in a journal format. It's streamlined, intuitive, and has drastically improved my productivity. I highly recommend reconfigured to anyone facing similar challenges!

🚀 Double Trouble? Not Anymore! 🎉 Working as both a Data Analyst and a Data Engineer means juggling multiple hats and doubling the trouble to finish every single project—especially when you're still learning. Last week, someone recommended reconfigured to me, and let me tell you, I'm so glad I gave it a shot! 🙌 🛠️ I was drowning in my SQL data analytics pipeline, struggling to split tasks into manageable steps. Then came Reconfigured's magic: all I had to do was write verbatim what I wanted to achieve, and BAM 💥—it broke down my tasks into clear, actionable chapters! I simply approved them, and voilà, I instantly knew what needed to be done. ✨ The best part? Reconfigured doesn't just help you organize; it makes sure you stay on track. Forgetting a main goal? It'll highlight that for you. It's like having a co-pilot who ensures your project stays cohesive, adaptable, and focused. 💡 For all my fellow data students and enthusiasts, this app is free and a total game-changer. It lets you focus on what really matters—building your models and pipelines—while it handles the structure. Give it a try, and thank me later! 😎

Congrats on the pivot guys. I think your new direction solves a problem for every analyst I know. When I told someone about it last week they said, "Oh my gosh this would help me so much. I just have this giant OneNote file right now." I've seen people use Jira for this - unsuccessfully. I've seen people to try to do this in Notebooks or ReadMe (including past me) and that clutters up your documentation with your messy journey of creating and discovering. And if/when team features come along I think it could be massively useful knowledge management tool across analytics teams (over time and across tools) and a people management tool (async status updates? flag things for escalation, etc.) And could be useful for adjacent personas at some point too (like maybe not all product workflows but certainly qualitative research spikes or quant analytics projects - with or without a paired analyst). It feels sticky to me. Really congrats on the pivot.

It's like a personalized predictive thought bank with great UI. I like how you can follow your breadcrumbs and turn them into something cohesive.

I'm really happy with my experience! This app does simple things, but it does it exceptionally well. This app is meant to be a journal as you dig into data and try to extract meaning and insights from it. What makes it nice to use is that it is always running in the background and with a simple shortcut, you can bring it up and log what you want. It almost achieves and exceeds the convenience of pen and paper (do not underestimate the power of this simple approach). And when you juggle between multiple projects, it makes it really easy to summarise where I left off.

A great addition to the data analyst's workflow, especially for the exploratory phase. It's easy to forget all of your data's nuances and get lost in the process. Reconfigured helps keep track of your steps and thought process, making it easier to backtrack and understand your analysis.
